how do you know when it’s over?

In an age of constant perseverance that won’t let us quit, contrasted with the belief in letting things “be”, when do I know when to just let it go?

How do I know when I have fulfilled all of the possibilities and need to move on?

When I approach a challenge, or anything that I really want, I feel that I have to exhaust all my possibilities before I can say that I even “tried”. But when do I know that it is enough? Is it up to my intuition, or something else?

I feel that most of us have been taught to do the complete opposite of what I am writing about: to keep on trying, always. I guess this post is not much of an argument, but a continued question, because is there really one answer here, an answer at all?

On the opposite end is the tenacity of people who hold on steadfast to their goals. Does this attachment prove that you can persist past obstacles and come through on the other end, or that you just don’t know when to quit?

The larger question becomes, when does an obstacle in the road become the conclusion to a story, relationship, career? Deciding to close a door is not easy, and the reluctance to do so is either extremely stubborn or heroic in fashion, a question I am still trying to find the answer to.

Finding a relationship with the natural procession of things and taking my destiny into my own hands is impossible, and also the point of life.

It’s strange to end on a question, but how do we do both if they naturally contest each other?
